Classes in Embroidery, Mandala Stone Painting, and Quilling
Amanda Twaddle and Wendy Shambaugh of North Sandwich Artisans will each be teaching classes at the Sandwich Home Industries this summer. Come create with them in the following classes:
Amanda will teach a course in beginning hand embroidery on Friday July 10 from 10-12 with a second session on August 14 from 10-12. Students will create a decorative embroidered wall hanging.
Wendy will lead a class in Mandala Stone Dot Painting on Thursday July 16 from 1 – 3. Each participant will learn how to draw design lines on a stone using dotting tools and acrylic paints.
Amanda will lead another class, Miniature Flowers & Flowerpot Quilling, on three consecutive days, July 20, 21, & 22 from 10 – 2. Using basic shapes, students will create 3D flowers, plants, and pots to mount in a small shadow box frame.

Engaging with hand crafts has many benefits - studies show that crafting increases mental well-being, promotes the building of community, and provides opportunity to explore/express identity in a safe space. Crafting also connects one with and preserves the heritage of these art forms.
As with all arts, practice will improve outcomes. We should all be open to trying new techniques with the openness of a kindergarten student ...You can do it!
